Another Japanese myth is that of The Sagari. These are mournful and depressive Spirits that border on being Yokai (Demons). In providing proof that even animals can suffer after death in Japanese mythos, The Sagari were ghosts of horses that died under a specific tree. The spirit would appear as a ghostly head of the same horse, hanging from a tree branch (attached by some accounts by a tentacle). The Sagari whines and whinnies throughout the night Some say that The Sagari were horse s condemned to this afterlife due to them being lazy and not willing to work for their human Masters. Others cite these are wrathful Spirit Animals mistreated in life and will cry through the night through all eternity.
