Saanaja

The strange looking Saanaja were said to live in Tibet. They were enormous beasts that were part Reptile (Turtle), but had a flattened furry face. Only their eyes could be seen. In this, was the problem with encountering a Saanaja. IF one looked directly into the eyes of the beast, the unfortunate would turn into solid ice. They were said to be very hard to find, fortunately. This was due to the very high elevations they lived in. For some unknown reason, The Saanaja could not "freeze" a Priest or Holy Man. They are still said to exist today, by some local accounts.
