Another Cherokee Mythos, The ‘’Raven Mockers’’ (or Ka’lanu Ahkyeli’ski), were said to be one of the few ‘’Evil Spirits’’ in Cherokee Religious and Spiritual Beliefs. These ‘’Spirits’’ took the form of Ravens. They preyed on those whose death was near. Rather than having a ‘’peaceful death’’ – The Mockers tormented the soon deceased. After dying, and before The ‘’Great Spirit’’ could take their Souls – Raven Mockers ‘’devoured them’’. Some Folk Scholars associate this act with the traditional views on ‘’Damnation’’.
