A strange departure for British Horror Great Christopher Lee, was 1966s ‘’Rasputin, The Mad Monk’’. The tale, which showed little actual historical accuracy, tended to emphasis the more possible supernatural said abilities of Gregori Rasputin, the real late 19th and early 20th Century Orthodox Friar who claimed ‘’powers from God’’. So mesmerizing, Rasputin reputedly lived quite well among His Russian Nobility supporters (mostly Women). The film shows His supernatural abilities and little of the actual Court intrigue He generated with the last Czar and Czarina of Russia (Romanov). One is unsure if the Film was Horror or pretending to be. A little over the top for most, Fans of seeing Lee in a completely different vein will no doubt enjoy ‘’Rasputin’’.
