Rakshasas

Translated to "The Night Wanderers", The Rakshasas were Demons who lived in the Sri Lanka forests of India. They were said to be Shapeshifters who could take any form (small or large). There most prolific form however, was that of a giant Hybrid Beast. Part-Human, they had the head of either a lion, snake, elephant or eagle. This image was completed with long sharp fangs and claws! The Rakshasas used Swords and Spears to hunt it's prey - humans (their primary diet). Possessing vampiric qualities, they were said to drink the blood of both human and animal. Some versions (or species) of Rakshasas preferred to remain as Spirit. They would re-animate dead corpses (much as a zombie). Yet another form was a "Water Rakshasas". These types took the form of water, often living in a well or related water supply. The more a human or animal would drink, the more thirsty they got, until they wasted away. One of several solutions to rid one of a Water Rakshasas was by either having a Holy Person bless the water supply or well. In yet another process (and it us still unknown as to why), a victim can simply cry out the word "Uncle". A Rakshasas will freeze in it's tracks!
