In Vampire sub-culture (as we have explored MANY times hence) – there are different classifications and species. While the drinking of blood is the most common link between Vampiric Classes, not all such ‘’Creatures’’ need to drain Their victims of the ‘’precious fluid’’. One class of Vampiric Being is known as a ‘’Psychic Vampire’’. Throughout History, many Cultures have mentioned such Creatures, but it was not until the 1960s that the term was first used. Mentioned in great detail by Occultist Anton LeVey in His ‘’Satanic Bible’’, He put forth the most common description of a ‘’Psychic Vampire’’. Technically, such a Being resembles a Human (Male or Female). They are unharmed or unfettered by the more traditional Vampire protections or requirements (coffins, daylight etc.) In fact, very little ‘’clues’’ are given to the Observer that One is such a Vampire. These Beings thrive (live) off the basic Energies that all Human Beings have. Be these called ‘’The Soul’’ or ‘’Inner Being’’, these resonate from all things. This energy is seen as a form of ‘’food’’ to Psychic Vampires. It rejuvenates them, much as sustenance would Humans. Some Cultures thought that Psychic Vampires feed (slowly) off their intended victim, until they died of ‘’natural causes’’. These Creatures would them simply move on – to other ‘’targets’’. Modern Folklorists state that such ‘’abilities’’ were also akin to another modern term – ‘’Emotional Vampires’’, which ‘’fed’’ off of the emotional distress of others. In Literature and Film, Psychic Vampires have become popular in a form and have been featured since the late 19th Century.
