The actual origins of ‘’Posthumous Execution’’ are unknown, but the earliest examples are mentioned around the 8th Century AD. In practice, persons who committed serious offenses (normally viewed as being ‘’against a Ruler or even God’’), may have escaped Justice, ‘’while Living’’. It was a ‘’custom’’ for many European Cultures to exhume the remains of The Offender (when found), and so ‘’punish them in Death’’. Regardless of the general ‘’condition’’ of the remains, often whole Trials were held, with official pronouncements made. The remains were then subjected to the punishment that they escaped in Life. Remains could be hung, decapitated, burned or so mutilated. MANY well known ‘’Villains and Naves’’ were so dispatched (again), thru History. The ‘’last’’ recorded violation Posthumous Execution was in 1986 in Haiti – when deceased Dictator ‘’Papa Doc’’ Duvalier was exhumed by The Populist Government, with His corpse being ‘’beaten to pieces’’ in Public.
