Made in 1982 (with a recent remake, of course), this classic Horror film centers around a normal Family moving into their beautiful new home. Almost immediately, strange things begin to happen. Moving furniture, lights that go off and on the Family takes no undue alarm. However, when more dangerous things start to happen (coupled with the disappearance of the Families youngest daughter into thin air), the Family brings in professional paranormal investigators. We learn that the house is under Poltergeist (malicious spiritual) control. The Families daughter is viewed as a pure spirit by the wayward ghosts and are drawn to her. This is used by the ghostly leader of the phenomenon (a 19th Century religious zealot). The Daughter is eventually rescued. Thinking their problems over, the Family prepares to settle back into a normal life. Unfortunately, we learn that in addition to the Ghostly Padre and his minions, the Housing development was built over a cemetery! Rather than properly moving the human remains, their headstones were moved only!

The spirits are very restless, and the Family faces yet another final battle for their lives. The film was very successful and spawned several sequels and a 2015 remake (more or less following the Families plight). A non-related Television series by the same name was somewhat popular in the early 1990s. The Film is noted for the infamous (and oft not believed by some) ''Poltergeist Curse''. It is alluded that almost ALL The Actors and Actresses suffered either death or some ill-fated career calamity as a result of making the film (which was said to have been based on SEVERAL actual Paranormal Cases).
