Although it is well known that the Ancients described and saw things very differently than the way we 'Moderns'' do, some things they experienced (or saw), still causes one to wonder just what they were talking about! The Historian Plutarch stated that in 74 B.C. - something happened to STOP a battle between Rome and Mithridates IV. The two Armies arrayed themselves on the plains of Phrygia (Asia). Rome's massive Forces of well-trained soldiers were set to fight an equal enemy Force. As the Forces advanced, a bright light appeared to all over the battlefield. Next, a huge pillar of flame poured forth from The Heaven's separating the two sides! So great and intense was the heat, that it could be felt in the rear ranks of both Armies. Taking the incident as a sign from Their Deities that the War would NOT be fought, both sides withdrew. It was said that there were no burns on the ground, and the sand was as glass . Just what WAS Plutarch describing? Some cite the very real possibility of a Meteor or even Bolide strike. Others still intervention by perhaps OTHER Lifeforms. We will of course, NEVER KNOW.......
