Phlegethon

A piece of Ancient Greek Mythos, with twin ‘’meanings’’ – ‘’Phlegethon’’ was the name given to one of The (5) Rivers of The Underworld. While ‘’Styx’’ is the most mentioned, of the others little has survived. The River Phegethon ran parallel to Styx. It was a ‘’torrent of fire and flame’’, which consumed Humas who lusted in Life. It was Guarded by The God ‘’Phlegethon’’ (after whom The River of Flame was so named).  So too was Styx personified as a Goddess. As it happened, She fell in love with He. However, so consumed with gazing into His eyes, that she too ‘’burst into flame’’. The River Phlegethon was said (by Roman Times), to be the location where Sinful Souls ‘’boiled’’ (as was Their eternal torment).
