The Antagonist of the ''Phantasm'' US Film franchise, The ''Tall Man'' made his creepy debut in the first ''Phantasm'' Horror Film of 1979. The Movie, and it's subsequent 4 sequels are World renown. The original 1979 Film was a staple of late 70s Drive-In and Late Night Theater Showings. The Plot line merges Horror with Science-Fiction and Fantasy but none of this would have been possible without ''The Tall Man''. Played by unknown Actor Angus Scrimm. Over 6-feet with ''Old and Ancient features'', The ''Tall Man'' operates a traditional Funeral Home and local Cemetery. In reality, He is an Alien Overlord who uses a dimensional doorway to transit His World and Ours. The ''Tall Man'' has but one Mission. To supply Slaves to His Alien World. His Planet is in Orbit around a Red Dwarf Star (which causes heavy gravity and intense heat).
\This means that Humans cannot survive there. The ''Tall Man'' has a simple plan. Using His ''cover'' as Undertaker, He steals the bodies of the recently deceased, and converts then into small Mutated Creatures (who, although small, still maintain their normal weight (in relation to Earth Gravity). The ''Tall Man'' then ships His Slaves to His Home World, via His ''doorway''. To ensure that ''secret'' is kept, ''The Tall Man'' uses a series of robotic floating ''Balls'' (called ''Spheres''). These devices can fly at great speeds and unleash a variety of cutting ''tools'' and the like, to ''slice and dice'' Trespassers. And while it seems every sequel kills off The ''Tall Man'', He is constantly returning. This may be an issue to the franchise, because Actor Angus Scrimm passed away in 2016 leaving any other true sequels in limbo.
