In most Caribbean Folk Magic Beliefs, ''Petro'' are ''Fire Spirits''. Their origins are mostly French Colonial and are related to Slaves brought to The Caribbean against their will. Petros are invoked to ''melt the chains'' which enslave those who invoke them. Even when invoked today, Petros are seen as ''releasing one'' from any form of ''bondage'' (drugs, alcohol or abusive people).
