''Pearlin Jean'' is a Scottish Ghost Tale which evolved from Blackadder Mansion (built in 1518 AD), which once stood at Berwickshire. The Mansion was demolished in 1925. The Mansion once sported many Out Buildings, which were support homes and work buildings dedicated to The Mansion. The legend states that a Young Scottish Lord was betrothed at birth to marry a Lady of substance when he reached proper age. Like all young men however, he needed to ''sow his wild oats'' and was sent to France. He fell in love with a young Lass named ''Jean''.

When the time came for His marriage, the Young Man was told in no uncertain terms by his Father to ''break off'' the affair and return to Scotland. Jean stood in front of his carriage to block his path and was (accidentally ) run over. In fact, her head was crushed by the heavy wheels. It was reported that just prior to her somewhat gruesome end, he moaned ''I'll Be in Scotland Before You!'' When the reckless Youth made it back home, and as he was climbing the steps to The Main Door he saw Jean, in all Her ''bloody glory'' (or perhaps gory). This terrified the Young Man. It seemed that at every turn in his Father's Mansion, he ''saw'' Jean. When He didn't ''see'' Her, ''Jean'' made Her presence known by slamming doors, open windows and just about every form of paranormal activity one could imagine.

In time, it was said that ''Jean'' drove the Youth quite mad. The Mansion was said to have been vacant for many years, with a host of Owners claiming they were unable to live inside Blackadder. Those that did in the 1800s cite that ''Jean'' was now ''skeletal'' and wearing a style of fine laced wedding dress known as Pearlin Lace. Hence, she became known as ''Pearlin Jean''. With the Mansion demolished in 1925, only open land remains. Not even a foundation was left. A fine piece of land, sadly no one wished to purchase it and build on it, perhaps for ''fear'' of also resurrecting ''Pearlin Jean''.
