''Paranormal Activity'' (2007)

The first of (7 – yes, 7) – Sequels and Prequels, 2007s ‘’Paranormal Activity’’ was in the ‘’Found Footage’’ Horror Film Genre. Filmed by ‘’The Victims’’ (who die in the end), most ‘’Found Footage’’ films have Camera and film ‘’found’’ by Authorities. This then becomes the Movie – One watches in Theaters. The original 2007 Film was simply done and quite unique. But it suffered from a slightly ‘’disjointed’’ story line. Subsequent films in the series attempted to correct some of these errors by developing a deeper reason for the Events of the first film.

The Plot is such. A young and ‘’in love’’ Couple by a House. The wife claims that ever since She was young, She was ‘’attacked’’ (haunted), by Demons. Naturally Her Parents thought She was just disturbed and eventually after man Doctors, She stopped ‘’seeing and feeling’’ Paranormal Activities. With the Couple in their new Home (and with their pet Dog), all seems normal – at first. But soon everyone in the House begins to experience strange happenings (doors opening and closing, furniture moving – the ‘’same old stuff’’. They decide to set up a Video Camera and record certain locations in the night (when they are asleep). It takes no time at all before the Couple begins to reason – that ‘’something’’ is inside Their House……

The Wife becomes more and more erratic, almost as if She is slowly being possessed (again). The Camera begins to show Her waking up at night (with her Husband asleep and oblivious) – walking around as if in a trace. As the film goes on – it is apparent that either The Wife is in fact possessed or perhaps mentally disturbed. The Film ends with The Camera recording The Wife awaking in Her Trace state and getting a butcher knife, which She promptly plunges into the chest of Her sleeping Husband. The ’’jump scare’’ follows, with The Wife approaching The Camera in a ‘’jerking, disjointed movement’’ . She gives The Camera a truly disturbing and demonic smile, before Her ‘’face’’ slowly transforms into……….(NOT TELLING).

Several Endings were filmed (all slightly different), of which were available only on the DVD release. As stated, ‘’Paranormal Activity’’ has it’s moments, with the following films ‘’fleshing out’’ the origins of the first film. Give it a try if you haven’t already!
