Oya is a Yoruban (African) Orisha (Deity), which is seen as Goddess of Storms, Cemeteries and ''Good Commerce'' in Marketplaces. When ''She'' was transplanted to Haiti (via Slavery), Haitian Folk Magic identified Her as the previously discussed ''Mama Brigitte''. It was said She ''adopted'' Man, due to the loss (stillbirth) of all 9 of Her celestial Children. ''Lighting'' and certain bladed weapons are commonly used to symbolize Oya. Her offerings include beans, oil and other ''common'' foods found in Street Markets.
