In man Turkic (especially Turkey) Countries and related Cultures, The ''Orek'' occupied a strange niche. Seen (in Modern sources) as a form of Zombie - or Undead, These were the animated corpses of the Dead. Used similarly as a Zombie of many Southern Caribbean Nations, The Orek is oft described as being not so ''decomposed'' (although how this is accomplished is never truly known). The Orek is used to either kill or drive insance it's intended victim. This is brought about by those who summon an Orek, looking for revenge against some slight or injustice. Controlled by the color White (seen as a funerary color in some Culture), The Orek cannot stand to see or even be around it.

Oreks are very unpredictable. They MUST be fed human flesh and blood to truly control them. Failure to do such, causes The Orek to go out of control and ''feast'' on human flesh without control. They can be destroyed (by Their Master) by wrapping them in White cloth and burning them (cremation). Often, The Orek was used as a type of ''cautionary tale'' in some Turkic Tales.
