A Legend which originated in The ‘’Black Mountains of North Carolina’’ – The Tale of ‘’Old Black Eyes’’ dates to the 1830s. It was said that a Man named James Baker was a powerful ‘’Warlock’’. But He wanted even more. Going to a small Cemetery at the base of The Black Mountains, Baker used all His skill to ‘’summon The Devil’’. Making a deal with ‘’Old Scratch’’ – He was given what he wanted, but at a price. Baker’s eyes instantly turned pitch black – as a ‘’mark of His Pact with Lucifer’’. But Baker found a way to outsmart The Devil, thus saving His Soul. But God in Heaven didn’t want Baker either. It is said His Spirit still roams The Black Mountains. ANYONE coming across a Man with ‘’unnaturally dark eyes’’, will have but a few short days of life left. The one known method to beat this Curse, is to draw the image of a Man’s face, with ‘’Black Eyes’’ – and shoot it with a firearm. This will ‘’end The Curse’’.
