From Viking (Norse) Mythology, Odin was the Son of The God Bor. King of all The Gods, Odin rules from Valhalla (Heaven). He uses magic to inspire Human Chieftains and Warriors with battle formations and how to win in War (The Bringer of Victories). He had a Human Cult that worshiped him called The Berserkers (who were fierce Warriors in battle). In Asgard (Capital City of The Gods in Valhalla), Odin welcomes the souls of all Warriors who have fallen honorably in battle. He arranges feasts and battles for them to participate in for all Eternity. Odin is often portrayed as an Older Man , in muscular shape (a Warrior). Odin is also shown with either his Sword or Spear. Often, Odin is also shown with a missing and bandaged eye (a wound earned in battle). Odin and his Cult, represented all of what was expected of a Viking Warrior. Said to have made himself a Corpse and hanging himself, Odin did this to learn the secrets of Rune Casting. Hanging (sometimes used as a Ceremonial way to execute sacrifices), are linked to Odin's trials . It is speculated that due to the Odin hanging myth MANY Norse Pagans well understood the idea of a hanging King (as Jesus), and converted to Christianity when first contacted by early Missionaries.
