Nongshaba

The Manipuri of Northern India have a Mythology which includes many Hybrid Beasts seen as Divine. The Nongshaba was a part-Lion and part-Dragon Creature, set as ''Guardians'' by The Gods. Found outside many Temples, they are similar in design to The Chinese ''Foo Dragon'' Guard. It is thought that by paying respect to a Nongshaba ''statue'' with prayer – One would be granted a ''Long Life''.
