The Practice of Necromancy is the use of Magic which involves communication with The Dead. This is done by The Summoner (Witch or Warlock), either bringing forth The Spirit or physical body (remains) of their intended Guide . This was seen as a way to procure forbidden knowledge or to use The Dead as a weapon. It was from the speculated practice of Necromancy that the legends and myths of The Living Dead (or Zombies) may have arisen. The use of Necromancy is well documented in nearly every Culture in both Europe and The Middle East. Even Asian has deep roots in Necromancy. It may well be one of the first forms of Dark Magic ever practiced. Ancient Greece and Rome made heavy use of Necromancy in their legends and myths of The Gods and Goddesses of their Culture. It was used as an effective cautionary tale when telling various stories of virtue and vice.

By The Middle Ages and the rise of Christianity as the dominant Religion Necromancy was instantly propelled into Satanism. Any evidence of such was an instant death sentence by The Inquisition or from a Witch Hunter. Necromancy not only involved powerful spells (and of course, a Corpse) but the use of various Talisman and other Dark items. Often, Human Blood featured prominently into the many Spells used to re-animate The Dead. Blood (as is well known), was seen as Life and a catalyst to bringing The Dead back to life. Again, many link some of these practices as the precursor to Vampirism and the many Creatures that those legends spawned. The Art was even studied by Scotland s James IV, not as a Summoner, but as a way to better understand Witchcraft and The Dark Arts The practice died out by the 19th Century, replaced by a curious fad in Satanism. But for a period of time, Necromancy was considered a very powerful (and dangerous) Summoner s tool.
