Said to be one of the first American Urban Legends (next to The Jersey Devil), Nain Rouge (and it's myth), goes back to 1701 (around the Region that would soon become Michigan in The United States). Local Native American Tribes say the myth is much older. Apparently, Nain Rouge (a French take of Red Drawf ), is an evil demon-like Entity (that was so named by French Fur Trappers). Targeting European Colonists, he is credited with most disasters which befall the Region. Fires, floods all are linked (somehow), to Nain Rouge. MANY sightings report it to be a small, red colored humanoid creature with rotten breath. It also has claws (which it apparently delights in scrapping to cause fear). Some Scholars of The Odd , link Nain to London's infamous Spring Heeled Jack sightings. In an odd (still done) Parade of sorts called The Parade of The Nain , it is said that participating Detroit residents march declaring their friendship with The Nain. The march proceeds to the City Limits. Traditionally, The Nain will leave The City in peace for 1 year. If no parade is held (or attending numbers are not good enough ), The Nain will strike - somehow!
