The Myling Mythos is not Native to Scandinavia (where the predominance of their stories lay). Beings of this type are somewhat indicative of several other Cultures throughout The World. Involving doomed or cursed Children, they grew out of early Christian influences against Paganism (still quite dominate when Missionaries arrived). In Scandinavia, The Mylings are associated with unbaptized Children or Infants. They are said to resemble normal Children, but are actual Spectral. As a result of their lack of The Christian Rite, upon their death, they are unable to be buried in hallowed ground . Unable to rest , they try to find unsuspecting Travelers to carry them to consecrated ground. In a variation, some Mylings demand their remains be properly removed. This request is popular in Japanese Culture. Often Mylings will climb onto the back of their victim, refusing to leave until their request is fulfilled. The legend further States that as one gets closer to their remains or a consecrated Cemetery , they grow heavier . The weight can become so oppressive that one will literally sink into the dirt of the Road. Incapable of moving further, The Myling with grow furious and kill their victim. The best way to avoid The Mylings was to avoid travel at night, especially near Cemeteries.
