From Romanian, The Muma Padruii is likened to the previously discussed Xana (or Forest Guardian Spirit). The Padruii is an Elemental Spirit that takes the form of an Old Woman . Unlike a friendly Spirit, The Muma Padruii doe not like Humans. She is portrayed as Hag-like and that She lives in a dark and decrepit House deep within a Forest. She likes to frighten Children and often will enchant them (turning them into her Slaves). The Muma Padruii was seen as a way of keeping Children from wandering off in Woods and Forests. In fact, She was possibly the inspiration for The German Fairy Tale Hansel and Gretel.
