Of (first) Portuguese and later Brazilian Belief, a ''Muiraquita'' was a form of Talisman, made from Jade or colored wood. It was traditional to carve The Muiraquita into the shape of an animal – in particular a Frog, Turtle or Fish. Blessed by Tribal Shaman, The Muiraquita had various uses. By Pregnant Women, to protect their unborn children, to warding of Hexes and related curses. Warriors wore them into battle to ensure that no ''Enemy weapon'' could harm them. The Muirquita is still made by some indigenous Tribes.
