One of Toho Films earliest and popular ''Godzilla Franchise'' Monsters – ''Mothra'' has appeared numerous times in Film. Conceived as a ''Giant Prehistoric Moth'' – Mothra was a ''Protector of The Earth'' (and presumably of Humankind as well). Born from a Giant Egg, ''Mothra'' is 180-long with 225-foot wings. ''She'' can generate great wind force with them and this serves as a form of weapon. In addition, Mothra (when in Her growing form of Caterpillar-type Silk Worm) can also produce extremely strong and sticky webbing (silk), which has been used on more than one occasion to encase (trap) Godzilla. While mostly Mothra ''dies'' in her films, Her offspring will grow into Mothras as well. ''She'' has a ''telepathic connection'' to an Island Tribe which ''cares for'' Mothras (as they have for Eons). The name ''Mothra'', while popular everywhere else in The World – was NOT so in the 1964 American Release. To appease that audience – Her name was changed (one time) to ''The Thing'' (aka ''Godzilla vs The Thing''). Mothra was one of the first of Godzilla's ''Enemies''.
