The Ancient Greek Personification for both ''Sleep and Dreams'', ''Morpheus'' was used to help interpret ''how'' Mankind dreamed, and ''Why''. It was thought that dreams were messages from The Gods, and it was up to Morpheus to regulate them. Long lasting and widely venerated, Morpheus would be used by various Medieval Philosophers to describe sleep and dreaming – regulated of course by more grounded Christian Beliefs. Morpheus actually had ''no Form'', and was shown causing ''Sleep'' to Mortal Man. Still other descriptions show Morpheus with ''Wings'', enabling Him to traverse great distances at Night to induce both Sleep and Dreams.
