Mono Grande

 A strange case is that of The Mono Grande. It was possible the spur that created the Science of Cryptozoology. First reported around 1931 in South America, The Mono Grande was a species of excessively large primates (larger than what was or would be expected). They are said to have lived in the thick jungles of The Orinoco River Valley. Supposedly starting at 7 feet and weighing over 200 pounds, local Native say that The Grande can understand human language (although they do not communicate). In 1933 an English Expedition was led into the Orinoco to determine if The Mono Grande myth was real. A Mono Grande was caught and killed and a photo was generated. However, the body disappeared enroute back to England. With only photographic proof (which was hotly disputed), The Mono Grande legend has never been quite explained. Subsequent Expeditions have yet to reveal another Mono Grande.
