From The Isle of Man, comes the tale of The Moddey Dhoo. While many state the story goes back to the 18th Century AD, it may go back back many earlier Centuries. The Moddy Dhoo is associated with Peel Castle on The Isle, also considered by many a very haunted place. As the Story goes, The Dhoo was a Wrath that took the form of a large Black (shaggy Canine), with ''eyes blazing'' . The Beast would be seen inside Peel Castle blocking the entrance to a certain Passage. This was linked to an either event by which a Lord was murdered inside The Passage. A somewhat intoxicated Guard, emboldened with courage faced off The Dhoo. It was said that he became so frightened, that he died three days later. From that day forward, anyone unlucky enough to stare down The Dhoo, would meet a similar fate. Later, The Passage was sealed up by brick and the Dhoo was never seen again inside The Castle. The Dhoo is said to wander The Isle, howling into the night quite annoyed that his ''home'' was sealed. Sightings of The Dhoo were reported as late as 1931.
