The mythological Norse God of Thunder's War Hammer. So powerful was Mjolnir, it was aid to be able to level mountains with a single blow. Thor (God of Thunder) could also command thunderbolts from it. Legend states that Dwarven brothers Sindri and Bokkr were commissioned by Thor to construct the War Hammer. They made a mistake with the handle (making too short - uncommon for a Norse War Hammer). In Norse language, Mjolnir means "That Which Smashes". In other language translations, it means "Thunder" (hence Thor's title). It was said to have a large striking face. Some versions of the Hammer have it made from iron or "mythical steel". Most 8th thru 10th Century Norse and Danish War Hammers had some element of the Legend incorporated into their manufacture.
