A Legend of The Native American Anishinaabe Peoples (Tribes associated with The Northeastern United States and Lower Canada), The Mishipetsu were said to be Water Beasts, described as ''Great Panthers, with scales and long sharp claws. They were said to be responsible for floods and violent rainstorms. They did so to show their displeasure of Hunters ''overkilling'' of a particular animal breed, and not allowing it to naturally re-populate. While not always happening to Native Americans (although some Hunters were greedy), many of The Anishinaabe Peoples cite the arrival of Europeans as the principle cause for many natural disasters of a water nature. The natural enemy of The Mishipetsu was the legendary Thunderbird.
