In Finnish Pagan Mythos, ‘’Mielikki’’ was a ‘’Forest Goddess’’, said to have created The Bear. This massive and powerful beast was used to protect The Forest from harm. Mielikki also sought out those animals caught in traps (paws). Freeing Them, She would ‘’enchant’’ the trap so that the Hunter that placed it, would never find it again. Not really a wrathful Deity, so long as Humans didn’t overhunt, many such Hunters would make offerings of pure water and honey to appease Mielikki before a Hunt.
