Often misidentified as The Devil, Mephistopheles is actually a Demon of Lucifer. The ''Demon'' (and story, as previously mentioned in length), are components of German Writer Johann Goethe (1790). While many Author's are attributed to The ''Faust'' Legend, Goethe is most looked upon at ''mainstreaming'' The Tale. As stated prior, Faust an aged Doctor/Scientist, sells His Soul for Love (a deal which was given in an altered state, as only The Devil would do). Mephistopheles (as Agent and Broker), is portrayed as a ''Human-like'' character (for the most part). Clothes in Red and with Horns it is from this that ''Satan'' is often seen as the physical manifestation called ''Mephistopheles''. Variations, some in feminine guise and others in more ''evil'' and menacing forms all depend of The Era (or Medium) of when The Tale is told. ''He'' is a popular Antagonist in many stories dealing with Human's selling their immortal soul to attain a goal or need.
