A rather unusual Toho Films component of The ''King Kong/Godzilla Film Franchise'' – Mechani-Kong actually started as as a Japanese Television ''Monster'' in 1966. In 1967 ''His'' popularity warranted a feature Film – ''King Kong Escapes''. A completely manufactured ''replica'' of the famed Simian, ''Mechani-Kong'' was used to dig a valuable radioactive substance from deep within The Earth (a task the ''real'' Kong couldn't do). ''Robo Kong'' has similar strength and a few ''high tech'' additions (''Hypno Eyes'', rockets and lasers). Defeated by King Kong by being thrown into The Ocean (electricity and sea water don't mix), ''Mechani-Kong'' was never ''resurrected'' in other Film Franchises.
