Perhaps one of the oldest known Tomes regarding Protection against Witchcraft – The Maqlu was a series of invocations written in Akkadian (and Ancient Mesopotamian Language). The stone tablet dates to the 1st Century BC. The ''reading'' of The Maqlu also required that a Sorcerer created three figures of wood, these were then burned during the recitation. The ashes were next purified with a special ''Black Fluid'' This ritual and the reciting of The Maqlu was seen as a means of protecting a City and it's people from ''wayward'' Demons and Spirits who roamed The Earth to torment Man.
