The Philippine Peoples too – as do most Cultures, have a version of ‘’The Angel of Death’’. This Entity – much as other variations, gather The Souls of the Departed from Life. She is known as Malakal Maut. It is believed, that when a Soul leaves a body (regardless of it’s Class on Earth), travels to a Realm mildly similar to the perceptions of Purgatory. All Souls are collected on the leaves of a Montaha Tree. After three days, The Soul will begin to fall to the ground. Malakul Maut quickly gathers them and conveys The Souls to Judgement. Often great fanfare and rituals were held, as a means to honor Her and curry her favor is quick collections.
