‘’Mahte’’ was a Latvian Mythology ‘’concept’’ which was akin to the traditional term of ‘’Mother Nature’’. Applied to no less than (72) ‘’other’’ Goddesses (all of whom deal with Nature and the protection thereof), it was also attached to a single Entity. Some other Baltic Regions gave Mahte other attributes such as ‘’Guardian’’ of expectant Mothers, deceased Souls (etc). In this ‘’identity’’, She was called ‘’Mother Death’’ and often revered as ‘’Bringer of Peace’’.
