Maha Sono

The Sri Lankan Mythology – ''Maha Sono'' were powerful Demons most associated with Cemeteries and The Dead. Some cite that The Maha Sono was a ''Guardian'' to protect The Dead from robbery. Some versions state that The Sono was a Giant who was rather ''combative'' and was killed by being decapitated. For His ''punishment'', a ''new head'' ( Tiger, or some other Predator) was given and His task at protecting graveyards.
