From Ancient Greece Mythology – ''Maenads'' were females Beings – seen as ''worshipers'' of various ''Chaos Gods'', in particular – Dionysus and Bacchus. They were said to have once been Human, but during their Rituals of Veneration (over time), become a type of ''Demi-God''. They were known to cause great ''fervor'' and ''passions'' during the Annual Festivals to both Gods. In a ''drunken state'', The Maenad was seen as a form of personification for ''Wanton abandon of Emotions''. Also known as ''Mad Women'', they were said to stage elaborate Festivals and Rituals – often involving Animals, Blood and in some versions – Human Sacrifice. Their primary goal was to ''wed'' themselves to The Gods, thru a form of ''self-sacrifice'', by which they would be ''rent to pieces'' (via supernatural means, it seems).
