A local Thailand Folk Culture Belief (relating to their Folk Magic), a ''Mae Nak Prai'' is a ''Spirit Jar''. The need for help in love, finances and other personal matters – is addressed with this. Any glass container is used. The Shaman takes various herbs and wood pulp from a sacred tree (or at least one blessed) is mixed with ashes from a deceased infant. It is then fashioned into a feminine figure ''Prai''. This Spirit is activated by writing down one's needs on cloth or paper, and placed inside for The Prai. Once sealed (with a lid), one must ''chant'' a specific prayer for a specific period of time. The two variations for having the ''wishes granted'' are as follows. The first, One must open the jar and ''release'' The Prai (who will then travel into The ''Spirit World'' to grant). The second, as some believe – require that the figurine is burned. The smoke generated then ''travels up'' into The Spirit World and is granted. The Mae Nak Prai Ritual (as well as manufactured ''Doll Talisman'') is still practiced and even today.
