The Madre de Aguas or ''Mother of Waters'' is a Protective Spirit (Loa) found in Caribbean (Cuban) Culture. The Madre de Aguas is portrayed in two forms. The first, that of a ''beautiful, yet wise Woman'' and the other a large Boa (Snake). She protects water sources and it is said – that whatever water she ''rests in'', will never dry up and give forth large amount of food (water life). When angry, ''Mother'' will take Her reptilian form and begin to consume local cows, as a means of depriving those who angered Her -  of food.
