Developed from several African Slave ‘’transplanted’’ Religious Beliefs into South America (16th Century), ‘’Macumba’’ is a belief system often associated with Voodoo. However, it is a different folk magic concept. Seen as ‘’Black Magic’’, it’s true purpose if for revenge or retribution. In some cases, Macumba is used as a means to fight ‘’Evil with Evil’’. Macumba also heavily relies on the use of animal sacrifice (Blood Offerings). The ‘’use’’ of ‘’lessor’’ or ‘’orphan’’ Spirits – which are not normally associated with more powerful Loas or Ghedes (as is traditional Voodoo Practices). Macumba can be found in Argentina, Brazil and several other Northern South American Countries.
