A Peruvian fable, The Machukuna are corporal Spirit Beings, which resemble human beings. They are cursed to wander the Earth as decaying corpses, having to work for the flesh they have lost through decomposition. Normally, they (as one would expect) have a hard time seeking work. However some Peruvian high plateau farmers would allow them to work in their fields. The longer they worked, the more flesh that would reconstitute. Some Machukuna would prefer to kill and steal human flesh. This act, however is not as permanent as if it were gained through work. Still, those that do not seek human help with work, have been known to accept food and shelter if offered In reality, The Machukuna may have derived from Leprosy cases, who would naturally be shunned by Society. They would resemble living dead corpses, at best.
