The character components of ''Lynette and Lyonesse'' were first found in Mallory's ''Le Morte de Arthur''. An allegory for Knightly Chivarly, Lynette was a rather ''assertive'' Lady of King Arthur's Court who sought Hr Sister Lyonesse's happiness thu marriage to a ''goodly Knight''. It was this drive that led Sir Gareth to champion Lyonesse during His Grail Quest, and as such would marry Her.
