In Samoan and Polynesian Mythos – The Legend of Leutogu is still well known. The Princess Leutogi was a Samoan who was married off to a Tongan King (as a means to ending a long standing War between the two Island Tribes). The Tongans regardless, did not like Her. Further, in Tongan Folklore – a Bat was seen as an ''Evil and Filthy'' Creature. On day, The Princess found a Baby Bat, wounded outside The Palace. She picked up and nursed the Bat back to health – and set it free. This so angered The Tongan people, that they seized upon Her and tied Her to a nearby Tree. The people started a huge fire around Her feet, planning to burn Her alive. But suddenly, a massive swarm of Bats appeared over The Princess. The Bats (by the thousands) – began to urinate on the fire – extinguishing it an and saving The Princesses life. Still undeterred, The Tongans took The Princess and thru Her into a barren land to starve. The Bats returned to her and brought Her food to keep Her alive. When The Princess did finally die, She was ''reborn'' a Goddess. She is Patron to Bats (who are not harmed in Samoan Culture) and worshiped as a ''Heroine'' by The Samoans.
