A staple in Irish myth and legend, Leprechauns (or more appropriately The Little People ) - have a varied origin and storyline. Their myths go back into Ancient Irish and Celt history. Said to be small, humanoid creatures (from 1 to 3 feet tall, with several larger species known) they are benevolent (for the most part). Said to be the issue of an evil spirit and a degenerate Fairy - they are often portrayed as Cobblers (Shoemakers). Said to have access to immense stores of Gold (hidden by humans in days gone by in times of war and never recovered). Their myth also includes the only way to locate their Gold stash is by following a Rainbow to it's end. Originally said to wear Green , they may have actually been first seen wearing the color Red. If one takes a Leprechaun's gold they are indebted to you (until they find a way to trick you into giving it back which Leprechauns are QUITE good at). Leprechauns can't drink alcohol, and get drunk very easily. One way to get a Leprechaun to stop bothering you (aka their gold) is to keep giving it shoes to repair (which they MUST do).
