A ‘’Nature Deity’’ in Ancient Japanese Mythos – ‘’Konohanasakuya-Hime’’ was seen as the ‘’Spiritual Personification’’ of Mount Fuji, located on The Island of Honshu – in Japan. The massive peak, in reality an ancient volcano, rises nearly 13,000-feet into the air. Since ancient times, locals have offered various types of sacrifice to Konohanasakuya-Hime, to ensure that Fuji would not erupt (and thus killing Them). Over the Centuries, many hundreds of Shrines have been constructed to appease Her. In truth, many of these have been destroyed over the generations, mostly due to past eruptions and earthquakes. Residents see this as a positive thing, whereas The Goddess is seen as ‘’performing protection’’ with each destruction or collapse of Her Shrines.
