Everybody loves a ''Giant Ape'' Film. The 1930s US Film ''King Kong'' established the 'Big Beast'' Genre which is still present today. In England of 1961 ''Konga'' was that County's venture into The ''Big Monkey'' ring. ''Konga''is about a Botanist who discovers a form of unusual Plant in Africa, which grows to enormous size. Bringing back the plant, He creates a formula that He feels will duplicate the effect in Animals. The Botanist injects the serum into a test Chimp named Konga. The Botanist also has mental issues (of course). As His serum proves valid turning Konga into a massive Giant (ala ''King Kong''), The Botanist hypnotizes The Chimp to kill all His ''naysayers'' and ''detractors''. London is torn up by Konga. The British Army attacks. The Botanist is killed by The Good Guys and as soon as Konga is rocketed and shot to death He shrinks back to His regular size. ''Konga'' was not well received in England, and did little better in The US. It was quickly pulled from most Theaters and found it's way into ''Triple Featured'' Drive-In Movies (mostly the last on The Bill!).
