Used in the 15th thru 18th Centuries, (especially by The Spanish Inquisition), The ''Knee Splitter'' was easy to make and of course - it's use could cause severe traumatic injuries. Consisting of two wooden frames with sharpened wooden spikes attached to a series of sliding plates - it was supported by the twin braces. The Knee Splitter was fitted over the knee and inner joint of the Victim. Positioned opened, at the required time, force was used to "slam down" the twin spike beds. These would penetrate and shatter the knee. As a result, the Victim was crippled for Life.
