A piece of Korean Mythos – a ''Kkoktu'' was a wooden, hand carved figurine, which was seen as an ''Assistant'' to care for a deceased Loved One in The Afterlife. After being ''created'', a Priest would invoke a ''Helper Spirit'' which was tasked to ''serve'' a Family Ancestor. Monies given for the ''ceremony'' (to The Priest), was seen as being a form of ''fee'' for providing such ''Spirit''. Traced to the 4th Century AD, some Kkoktu were ''dressed'' in ''Warrior'' garb and armed with weapons (for protection). The Statues ranged from several feet in height to ''full sized'' (6-feet). The Kkoktu were ''kept'' at a Temple only.
