Developing in Scandinavia, - with some arguments attesting to it's origin being actually Germany, The Kitchen Witch was a form of Talisman hung in a Kitchen to ward off Evil Spirits. Seen as good luck , the Talisman was made of cloth and shaped as a Doll. Stuffed with Wheat or Straw, often a special message was attached to the front of The Kitchen Witch. These could be spells or incantations designed to give life to The Doll. Unknown in Medieval England, some documents cite (possible due to Foreign immigrants) of Kitchen Witches around 1599, being seen in many Homes. The practice could have been adopted by some.
